Hono-gurashi no Niwa gameplay flow will include nighttime explorations
Nippon Ichi Software shared more gameplay details on Hono-gurashi no Niwa at their March 2026 Untitled// broadcast. The company president Kenzo Saruhashi particularly explained the game's flow, which also includes the horror-infused nighttime explorations.
After the prologue events have concluded, the protagonist will start the daily life loop in the Kagatsu village. In the morning, the player will be tasked with taking care of the crops and livestock. After that, they can spend the rest of the day doing activities like fishing, hunting, or interacting with other villagers.
However, the protagonist will be occasionally unable to sleep through the night, so the player will have to go outside and explore the village at night. Other than noticing some of the villagers' unusual behaviors, the player can also end up encountering scary yokai by default. As a reminder, Nippon Ichi is also preparing a Safe Livelihood Mode as an optional mode that will remove the horror elements.
In the archived Nippon Ichi Software Untitled// broadcast, you can find the Hono-gurashi no Niwa gameplay segment from the 8:41 mark. The game will be available for Switch 1&2, PS5, and PC Steam on July 30 in Japan. NIS America has yet to announce its English localization as of this writing.
