More Villion:Code gameplay details focus on Genome Editing and Research features

Compile Heart has published more details for their upcoming new RPG Villion:Code. Following last month's coverage on the combat gameplay details, this batch features the Genome Editing feature for adding buffs to party members, as well as the Research feature that lets you delve deeper into the game's world setting while progressing through the storyline.

The Japanese press release also revealed that a physical demo build of Villion:Code will be available at Happinet Game Fes 2026, which will take place at Belle Salle Akihabara on March 28-29. Other games that will have pre-release demos available in the venue include Brigandine AbyssUtawarerumono: Past and Present Rediscovered, and the upcoming brand-new mainline Neptunia entry.

You can find our translations of the new gameplay details right below. A couple more samples of the BGMs composed by Tsukasa Masuko are also available at the bottom. Villion:Code will be available in Japan for Sony PlayStation 4&5 and Nintendo Switch 1&2 on June 25. Idea Factory has yet to announce an English localization for this game as of this writing.

Genome Editing

The protagonist's Adhvan Rebs group will notice that the hostile GEMs gradually grow stronger by cannibalizing other GEMs to enhance their own genomes. The group will then be able to collect genome ampoules when they beat GEMs loitering inside dungeons. The ampoules will be categorized by the strength rank and element.

You can then access Chloe's Everyone's Genome app to access genome editing features. In Genome Combine, you can fuse the collected ampoules to generate genome cubes that will host several buffs, although you can also make some alterations by adding an EX Factor item like a research paper or a lucky charm.

The buff cubes are to be then injected into a party member via the Genome Injection menu, with up to 8 cube slots for each party member available after having enough story progression.

Research

The protagonist will be able to activate the quantum AI Alaya to Research and observe his surroundings. In a point-and-click fashion, Alaya will be able to provide more details on most of the available subjects, which range from school data to character biographies (although some of the latter may be blocked by privacy settings).

The Research menu also has an option to talk with a specific character to gather information. The Alaya AI can also provide more clarification to the complex terms.
