Japanese retro flip phone RPG Revenger gets ported to PC via Steam
Japanese indie developer nazenaninadesico has released a port of Revenger for PC via Steam. This game originally appeared for i-Mode flip phones when OpenDoor published it in late March 2004.
This is also the second entry in the Revenger series to get a port for the ongoing PC platform as the first one was Revenger Origin, which had its port released last month. But while the developer tried to faithfully port the retro flip phone game, the Steam page for both releases contains an admission of using AI to produce the feature phone frame shown on the ports' screen.
You can find the official trailer, descriptions, and screenshots for the Revenger port right below. Despite having descriptions in English, the actual game is only available in Japanese.
Revenger is a single-player RPG, a port of the first game in the Revenger series originally released during the feature phone era.
This title features a “Proficiency System” and a “Synthesis System.”
The more you use a skill, the more your proficiency increases, boosting its power and increasing its maximum uses.
You can synthesize weapons using material items or other weapons to create your own original weapons.
Face powerful foes with your honed skills and weapons!
Using a proprietary i-mode compatible layer also used in Revenger ORIGIN, this game faithfully recreates the i-mode experience. It features nostalgic 12-dot retro fonts and retro audio, allowing you to play with the same atmosphere as back then. (Switchable)
While keeping the graphics and difficulty unchanged, the user interface, tempo, and pad support have been adjusted to make it easier to play in the current environment.
