Today, Astral Clocktower Studios (ACS) releases version 1.0 of its highly anticipated dark fantasy action RPG, Kristala (Wishlists: 100K+), which is now available on PC, PlayStation, and Xbox. The 1.0 release arrives after eight years of development and marks a landmark moment as the debut title for the women-led indie studio, which has built one of the most dedicated and organically grown fanbases in the soulslike genre.

ACS Game Director Alexis Brutman reflects, “Kristala has been eight years in the making, beginning with a small team of volunteers and growing into a full-scale studio united by a shared vision. Launching worldwide across PC, PlayStation, and Xbox is a surreal milestone for us. We set out to expand what players expect from the genre, blending fast, fluid combat with platforming and parkour in a world where cats are king, while dedicating a portion of our profits to supporting animal rescue organizations globally.”

Set in the cursed world of Ailur, the title combines the swift, punishing combat of Dark Souls and Sekiro, allowing players to master fast-paced gameplay as they uncover ancient magics, utilize unique stealth mechanics, unravel narrative mysteries, and prove their worth as elite feline warriors while battling to uncover the source of a dark curse. With engaging elements such as enemy aggression, timing windows, and dynamic difficulty based on player performance, Kristala pairs Soulslike challenges with a distinctive aesthetic and original universe, praised for its character design and fluidity.

In tandem with the game’s release, ACS announces that the iconic creator MickeyMunch (Followers: 4M) will make his voice acting debut as Kristala’s prominent NPC Gustav Gondasa, a spunky and adventurous Hemani who will be the first friendly rodent face players meet along their journey. MickeyMunch is a viral content creator who embodies a familiar mouselike character as he plays games across popular titles like Roblox and now Kristala.

Players can now experience Kristala in full on PC, PlayStation, and Xbox, with a Switch release to follow at a later date.

The launch arrives on the heels of extraordinary pre-release momentum with over 100K wishlists on Steam. The Kristala PS5 demo also climbed to the #2 spot on PlayStation, while the studio's organic virality on TikTok built a devoted community around its world and combat. The title's immersive sound design features original music from heavy metal musicians like Kasey Karlsen (Followers: 376K), adding a distinct sonic dimension to its dark fantasy world.

"As an indie team, bringing Kristala to full release has been an extraordinary journey. This game represents years of persistence, community collaboration, and a shared belief in the world we’ve been building together for the last eight years.” ACS Co-Founder and Marketing Director Sarah Schaffstall adds, “Launching the full release is a milestone we’re incredibly proud of, and really only the beginning of what’s still to come for the world of Ailur."
