Global interactive entertainment brand HoYoverse announced today that the urban fantasy ARPG Zenless Zone Zero Version 2.8 "New: Eridan Sunset" will officially launch on May 6. In this new version, the executioner of Krampus, Promeia, and the upgraded Cunning Hares member Starlight - Billy will enter the fray, bringing new variables to the turmoil of the Outer Ring. The update also introduces an ethereal outfit for Hoshimi Miyabi, a new Wind attribute enemy to the battlefield, and multiple system optimizations.
As the last chapter of Season 2, this version introduces the story in which the mysterious target Ramiel becomes the focus of pursuit for various factions in the Outer Ring. Meanwhile, Promeia, the executioner of Krampus, appears as an intelligence contact, forming a temporary alliance with the upgraded Starlight - Billy, the Proxies, and Cissia to uncover Ramiel's true identity and intentions. As the investigation deepens, the Proxies will encounter an unexpected twist — one that brings both risk and opportunity, potentially transforming into a new power that they can harness in the future.
As the executioner of Krampus, Promeia is an S-Rank Ice Anomaly agent who excels at triggering Abloom on enemies by consuming Trial by Cold, which can be obtained by converting Corrosive Chill. Her EX Special Attack activates the Bound Absolution state, allowing her to automatically trigger a Perfect Dodge when attacked. When the squad includes another Anomaly or Support agent, she can also boost the squad's Abloom damage.
Starlight - Billy, an S-Rank Physical Rupture agent, is Billy's fully upgraded form, funded by half a year of his salary paid in advance. Armed with a combat motorcycle and his signature Starlight Knight flying kick, he delivers massive Physical burst damage. Starlight - Billy increases his Sheer damage based on his maximum Health, and the Physical damage dealt by all his attacks is considered Sheer damage. Additionally, some of Starlight - Billy's skills can restore his own Health. Starlight Billy's Ultimate unleashes his signature powerful kick, dealing a large amount of damage to enemies. Both agents will debut in Version 2.8, alongside reruns of Lucia (Ether - Support) and Orphie & Magus (Fire - Attack).
The new version also introduces a brand-new attribute enemy and a new Vortex combat mechanic: When certain enemies are inflicted with the Wind Attribute Anomaly, applying other Attribute Anomalies will trigger Vortex instead of Disorder, dealing AoE Anomaly damage matching the corresponding element. This adds fresh strategic layers to team building. On new version events, "Marcel Bootopia" lets players control Eous to explore a Bangboo resort island temporarily closed due to an accompanying Hollow, rescuing trapped Bangboos and collecting treasures. Completing the event rewards Proxies with Booltergeist and its Bangboo core. This A-Rank Bangboo can hover in the air and fire lasers in combat, dealing increased damage when specific teammates are present. Other events include the "Ultimate Verdict Trial" where Proxies can fight alongside Promeia, as well as many other activities with their respective Polychrome rewards. The new outfit featuring the classic style of the Hoshimi family, Hoshimi Miyabi: Dignified Blossom, will also be available in the shop after the new version update. As for system optimizations, there will be a new Polychrome Guide feature that helps track limited-time rewards progress. Resource and storage management has also been optimized, with a new auto-delete function introduced.
Additionally, the Zenless Zone Zero original soundtrack vinyl sets will be available for pre-order via the Laced Records store starting April 29. This vinyl set includes classic in-game tracks and character themes from Zenless Zone Zero, presenting the game's soundtrack to players in a beautifully crafted physical format.
Zenless Zone Zero Version 2.8 "New: Eridan Sunset" will launch on May 6 for PlayStation®5, PlayStation®5 Pro, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox Cloud Gaming, PC, iOS, and Android.
