Hajime Tabata launches revitalization project in Shimabara Peninsula with Ryugu Nation integration
Hajime Tabata announced that his company JP Universe has launched the Shimabara Peninsula Geo-Chronicle Project. This project aims to revitalize the Shimabara Peninsula / Unzen Volcanic Area UNESCO Global Geopark as the first "Real Adventure RPG" in Japan, along with some incorporations into Tabata's RPG metaverse platform project, Ryugu Nation.
This project also aims to revitalize the three cities in the Kyushu island peninsula (Shimabara, Minami-Shimabara, and Unzen) that have seen dwindling populations in recent times. The mascots of each city (Shimabara's Shimabaran, Minami-Shimabara's Captain Beiga, and Unzen's Oyuppy) are slated to appear as AI navigators in Ryugu Nation.
The project's primary objective will be to have children explore the Geopark area and gradually make new discoveries that can be registered as stories and quests in Ryugu Nation, eventually turning natural resources in the area into intellectual properties.
We have previously covered how the new RPG game project titled Shallah was revealed in 2024 by Hajime Tabata as the representative director of JP Games. This company is still intact along with the Shallah project, but Tabata's name has since disappeared from JP Games' member list for whatever reason.
Tabata has been more recently seen actively as the representative director of JP Universe, which is also located at the exact same Pile Kudan office building. We spotted Tabata sharing his 2026 aspiration message at the end of 2025 under the JP Universe company, with a plan to launch a beta test for Ryugu Nation within this year.
