Demonschool free update adds new game plus mode, new character lines, text log, mouse-only controls, and more
Ysbryd Games and Necrosoft Games have released a new update for the tactics RPG Demonschool bringing in new game plus mode, new character lines, a text log, a mouse-only control option, and more. Demonschool is now available for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC (Steam, Epic). You can read our full review here and my platform comparison here going over visuals, load times, and more.
You can find the new Demonschool update announcement and patch notes with more details from Ysbryd Games and developer Necrosoft Games below:
Hello all! Thanks for all the support you've given Demonschool so far. It's been lovely to hear from folks who see themselves in these characters, people who vibe with the battle mechanics, and folks who just like hanging out in this world.
As we hinted in our last update, there were a few more things we had wanted to do with the game if we had extra time. So we decided to reward everyone with a nice update. We want to be clear about what this is and isn't - this is a quality of life update with a bunch of extra interactive details, not a major story update. But there's enough here that we hope folks will get something out of it.Here's what you'll find.
New game plus
You can now start a New Game+ from your completed save file. This allows you to play through the game from the start with all abilities, opals, credits, relationships, clubhouse styles, clubhouse upgrades and fish gained through past playthroughs.
All characters are playable from the first point at which you have a full team (late week 10). This means you can use characters in battles where they weren't meant to be.
Narrative:
Faye mentions in the early game that there's a pretzel she wants to buy in the alley. We promised that if we hit 500 reviews, we'd let Faye buy one. And so: now Faye can buy a pretzel from the alley starting week 9 on Mondays.
Forming connections between non-Faye characters now prompts short, two-line dialog interactions (around the clubhouse). There are 182 of these interactions, two per character combination. These connections are formed (as mentioned in the help menu) by completing battles with the characters between whom you want to form a bond. They just need to be in the same battle together. These interactions are just a short little extra bit of color.
There are now more than double the number of character lines in the clubhouse. Previously, our characters would only have something new to say when something happened in that particular week. Now they also react to whatever clubhouse style they're in, depending on the action they're doing. So, essentially, more goofy lines of text in the clubhouse.
Fulfilling another big request, we've added a text log for those that want to read over older conversations. The last 20 lines of dialog will be available.
We have sped up and improved the cutscene actions and character sprite movements in several weeks, focusing especially on some of the slower weeks pacing-wise.
We've gone through and done a grammar check through the main story and NPCs. In particular we checked for comma and period usage. Sidequests and connections may get this treatment at a later time.
Gameplay additions and fixes:
We've added mouse-only control for the game. You can now play the entire game with just the mouse. You can left-click and Faye will run to that location, or you can right-click and drag, and she'll follow the cursor around.
There are tons of fixes to minigames, battles, achievements, abilities, et cetera.

There's inevitably going to be a little weirdness and narrative dissonance in New Game+. Some of that is to be expected since the game was built to work in a certain order. But if you see any actual crashes or bugs, do let us know!
Thank you for playing Demonschool, both new players and old! And if you've never reviewed the game, please do! Negative reviews have a huge amount of power on Steam, and they increase whenever we do a sale, as we're doing right now. We need many positive reviews to lift us above them.
We hope you enjoy the updates!
