1986 PC-9801 release of Marchen Veil II ported to Nintendo Switch via EGG Console
D4 Enterprise is gradually releasing a new EGG Console port for Nintendo Switch based on the 1986 PC-9801 release of Marchen Veil II. This port is set to be available on Nintendo eShops worldwide, including in the US storefront at $7.16.
This release follows the earlier port of the first Marchen Veil, of which this game serves as its sequel and conclusion. The first game is also readily available on the Switch via a port of the PC-8801mkIISR release.
You can find the official screenshots and descriptions for the Marchen Veil II port right below. Just like most of the prior EGG Console releases, the actual ported game is only available in the original Japanese build, although this game already has a good number of English terms by default.
This action RPG was released by System Sacom in 1986. Players become a lake prince transformed into a hideous creature "Veil" and set out to find the sorcerer who cursed him.
Like its predecessor, the game alternates between visual scenes and action segments. A unique highlight is the seamless fusion of a compelling narrative—via CG and text—and fluid four-way scrolling and shooting action.
Compared to the first entry, action elements are significantly enhanced: movement is faster, enemy attacks more intense, massive bosses introduced, and map size increased. You will find it a much more rewarding action RPG experience.
While the original was on multiple platforms, this sequel "II" was PC-9801 exclusive. For this reason, many retro fans may have never played it. Witness the conclusion of the lake prince’s journey in this final chapter.
