World-crafting mavens at developer Lovely Hellplace (Dread Delusion) and the horror-slingers at publisher DreadXP shadowdropped a demo for the upcoming dark fantasy RPG Entropy today on Steam, and also let the citizens of in-game world Draenog know that they don’t have to wait long as the indie dark RPG title hits Early Access on Aug. 18.

Inspired by classic JRPGs, Entropy is a post-apocalyptic role-playing game with an expansive world map, explorable towns filled with colorful characters and a tactical turn-based battle system all woven into a low poly, PSX-style visual tapestry that harkens back to early modern console days.

In this dying age, only pockets of humanity remain. There was no pivotal apocalyptic event to speak of; only the cruel march of time and the inexplicable infertility of the world. Accursed creatures stalk the barren lands between settlements, which are themselves terrible places; squalid, medieval and mostly ruled by tyrants.

Control your party of up to six unique but forgettable mercenaries - they are there to serve you in combat, after all. Each mercenary joins your party with their own talents (and preexisting injuries), as you embark on a quest across the poisoned lands to stop a wicked demonic incursion. Target enemy limbs, severing and weakening your foes in Entropy’s engrossing tactical turn-based combat… feel free to get creative.

Beautiful retro aesthetics set the backdrop for your exploration of a dying world full of strange creatures, unique characters, skill-testing challenges and best of all: TREASURES. Use your hard-earned currency and items to hire mercenaries to replace your fallen party members, and level up to increase your stats and unlock new perks.

The demo for Entropy is available now on Steam.
