Yoko Shimomura 39th Anniversary Orchestra Concert launches in Tokyo on September 25

An orchestra concert featuring tracks by Yoko Shimomura to celebrate the 39th anniversary of the composer's career will be held at the Tokyo Metropolitan Theatre on September 25. The concert's full title will be Yoko Shimomura 39th Anniversary Orchestra Concert: 39! ~Thank You!~ (Note: 3-9 can be pronounced in Japanese as "san-kyu", which resembles "thank you")

This concert will feature renditions of Shimomura-composed tracks by the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra, with Arnie Roth as the conductor. Yoko Shimomura herself will also attend the concert in person.

The Japanese initial press release also included a preliminary setlist teasing some of the tracks that will be performed in this concert. Most of the tracks will come from RPG titles Shimomura had worked on, such as Kingdom Hearts and Xenoblade Chronicles. However, not all of them will come from video games, as the list also includes a track from the 2017 anime movie Napping Princess.

The preliminary setlist published so far is as follows:

  1. Live A Live - Forgotten Wings - Megalomania Medley
  2. Legend of Mana - Hometown Domina
  3. Xenoblade Chronicles - Main Theme
  4. Super Mario RPG - Beware the Forest Mushrooms
  5. Final Fantasy XV - Stand Your Ground
  6. Kingdom Hearts - The Other Promise
  7. Napping Princess - Kokone's Theme

Tickets for the concert will be available at two seat tiers—A tier at ¥8,800 and S tier at ¥9,900; however, pre-school children will not be allowed to enter the venue. The earliest purchase window will be open from July 4 (10:00 JST) to July 12 (23:59 JST).
