Final Fantasy XIV launches on August 4 for Nintendo Switch 2, pre-orders are now live

Square Enix just announced that Final Fantasy XIV for Switch 2 will launch on August 4. The first month will be free for all as a stability test and a free trial will also be available.

As revealed before, if you already play XIV and want to keep playing on other platforms and Switch 2, you will need a new Switch 2-specific XIV subscription. Pre-orders will be going up today for the Switch 2 version with three editions:

The pricing is as follows:

  • FFXIV Starter Edition - $19.99
  • FFXIV Complete Edition - $59.99 with a pre-order discount bringing it to $41.99
  • FFXIV Complete Collector's Edition - $139.99 with a pre-order discount bringing it to $97.99
  • FFXIV Dawntrail Expansion (requires base game) - $39.99
  • FFXIV Dawntrail Collector's Edition (requires base game) - $59.99

The download size listed on the eShop is 117GB for FFXIV on Switch 2.

Final Fantasy XIV: Dawntrail is now available on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, macOS, and PC. Dawntrail and FFXIV launch this August for Switch 2.
