Yanako RPGs to release Yami Kids for PC via Steam on September 22 and Dokimon Quest: II later on
Yanako RPGs has published details about their upcoming games on Steam. The indie team is first preparing to release Yami Kids on September 22. The team has also set up another Steam page for Dokimon Quest: II, although the latter is still yet to have a release window.
Both of the above announcements were made on the Steam page for the first Dokimon Quest, which is also available on Xbox One and Nintendo Switch as Doki Monsters: Quest. The first game also happens to be available for free temporarily on Steam until August 26. All three of these monster-raising RPG games are also being made with Montamer Maker, which itself is derived from the GameMaker engine.
You can find the official screenshots and descriptions for Yami Kids and Dokimon Quest: II right below. While the first Dokimon Quest has since been localized to Japanese, French, Brazilian Portuguese, and Latin American Spanish, the new games are so far only slated to be available in English.
Yami Kids
I'm Sending you Straight to The Underworld!
"Shadow Duels", deathmatches that only happen at night against real rival Contractors and their Oni teams. Lose one, and you're pulled into The Underworld — a place of strange items, mysterious locations, and tasks at hand before you can return to the world of the living.
Yami Kids is a dark, retro-styled monster-taming RPG with 80+ Oni to collect, and a short story starring twins Yuki and Yuumi Yami. Follow along as they fight to survive both the Overworld they know, and the Underworld beneath it.
Meet the Yami Twins
Yuki Yami
A dependable older brother (by about five minutes) with a tongue as sharp as his dagger eyes. Yuki will do anything to protect his "little" sister — even delving into the Underworld and back.
Yuumi Yami
The adorable younger sister with an unusual obsession with fire and creepy things. Cute on the outside, Yuumi's wacky personality is a direct reflection of the twins' harsh upbringing in The Slums.
Contract, Train, and Battle with Oni to Call Your Own
Yami Kids blends retro graphics with modern-day quality-of-life settings and a brand-new twist on the classic monster-taming formula. Summon, collect, and train over 80 powerful Oni! Just be sure not to get on their bad side...
Real Oni vs. Oni Battles
Navigate a fun new twist on the creature collector genre, featuring classic monster-vs-monster turn-based duels!
Dokimon Quest: II
Set in Edo period Japan, Dokimon Quest: II takes you back in time to finish what you started: "Save Maiko!"
This time, you'll find yourself in a dated, unfamiliar world, where you'll have to team up with the villagers who found you. In a world swirling with mystery and loneliness, you'll find the true meaning of friendship, both alongside new Dokimon, some familiar faces, and many new ones!
The Buddy System
How you travel is up to you. Go at it alone, or bring along a friend you recruit along the way.
Trainers: Are battles feeling a little lonely all by yourself? Bring another trainer into your Dokimon battles!
Healers: Having some trouble with the current area? Or too poor for items? Put a healer in your party!
Merchants: Looking to explore? Or catch a whole bunch of new friends? Bring a merchant along!
Customize your playstyle through several personalization options, ranging from: Movement preferences, difficulty settings, game visuals, battle options, and even the partner that's with you every step of the way (unless you decide to leave them at home!)
Xelos in 1855
Explore the Xelos region, both as you did before, and... as you would have in the past! Things weren't quite the same 200 years ago, and the people and Dokimon that inhabit the land are quite different too! In the Edo period, trading and bartering was a lot more common than buying things with money. Not just anything is up for sale! Some items will rely on gathering, crafting, trading, or even just returning a favor.
The Big Improvements
Built on the new and improved Dokimon engine "MonTamer Maker", Yanako RPGs is BACK with an all new game, and all new features and improvements.
Mounts: Speed across the entirety of the Xelos region, accessing mounts on land, on sea, below sea, and more!
Dungeons: Unleash the Wilderness of certain Dokimon, by diving into mysterious dungeons and discovering new powers!
The Letter System: Deepens lore and storytelling while also creating a memory trail of what's happened so far
Customization: Craft and collect a plethora of furniture, decor, and more for your new home in Edo period Japan
Fully Immersive: Smoother gameplay, updated systems, polished movement and interactions, all new menus
Reworked Moves and Battles: Polished, balanced, expansive, intuitive. Battling is now faster and better than ever
