The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - Remastered announced & coming September 29; new DLC Songs of the Past gets a trailer

CD Projekt Red pulled back the curtains on The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - Remastered at Gamescom Opening Night Live 2026, alongside a teaser trailer for its new DLC Songs of the Past that's coming in 2027.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - Remastered is a free upgrade for existing owners of The Witcher 3 on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. It boasts upgraded visuals, enhanced combat, improved traversal & movement, new Witcher Signs FX, revamped mount handling, enhanced monster behaviors, a skill tree revamp, transmogrification support, expanded Photo Mode, and new finishers. 

There are a whole host of other features listed including cross platform mod support, new quest tracking, looting rework, HDR improvements, GTAO, new accessibility features, and much more.

Plus, The Witcher III: Wild Hunt - Remastered will include its two previous expansions, Hearts of Stone & Blood and Wine. Starting today, those previous two expansions for The Witcher III: Wild Hunt will be free for all owners. 

The Witcher III: Wild Hunt - Remastered is also coming to Nintendo Switch 2 and Battle.net on September 29.

Plus, a teaser trailer for the brand-new Songs of the Past DLC was shown off. It will be a paid expansion.

CD PROJEKT RED is pleased to announce The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt — Remastered is launching on September 29, 2026. A first look at the new expansion, Songs of the Past, was also shared at gamescom Opening Night Live.

  • Songs of the Past is now available to wishlist ahead of its 2027 release. It will take players to the brand new realm of Letten — an idyllic land of rural tradition that hides a dark secret just below the surface.
  • Remastered — a free upgrade for existing The Witcher 3 owners on qualifying platforms — brings a slew of upgrades and enhancements to visuals, performance, gameplay, and more when it launches on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
  • The Witcher 3 is coming to two brand new platforms. A native version of Remastered will be released on Nintendo Switch 2, and through a new partnership between CD PROJEKT RED and Blizzard Entertainment, Battle.net — both on September 29.
  • All owners of The Witcher 3 can now play to two acclaimed expansions — Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine — at no additional cost.

During gamescom Opening Night Live, an announcement trailer for The Witcher 3 — Remastered revealed a slew of upgrades and enhancements to visuals, performance, gameplay, and more are coming to the acclaimed role-playing game. Players can experience the entire epic adventure with upgraded visuals, enhanced combat, improved traversal and movement, new witcher signs effects, revamped mount handling, enhanced monster behaviors, a skill tree revamp, transmogrification, expanded photo mode, new finishers, and much more. Remastered will be available on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S — plus, for the first time, a native version of the game will be released on Nintendo Switch 2, with pre-orders available now.

A teaser for Songs of the Past was also shared at gamescom Opening Night Live and revealed the brand new region of Letten. This idyllic land is rich in rural tradition and folklore, and its people enjoy a fulfilling life of bountiful harvests and lavish festivals. But a dark secret lurks just beneath the surface, and Geralt must overcome never-before-seen foes as he fights to overcome its long-dormant evil.

Songs of the Past launches in 2027 as a paid expansion for The Witcher 3 on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2. It is available to wishlist now across select platforms.

As an additional surprise for players, all current owners of The Witcher 3 will today gain access to its original two expansions — Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine — for free. Announced on stage by gamescom Opening Night Live host Geoff Keighley, players yet to experience the critically acclaimed expansions can now do so ahead of Remastered’s launch in September.
