Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance showcases Teostra and more in new TGS 2026 gameplay
Capcom has revealed Teostra for Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance today during its TGS 2026 Showcase.
In addition to showing off Teostra, Capcom revealed more about Lao-Shan Lung and the base in Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance. You can watch the full stream below:
Capcom also detailed new features and improvements coming to the base game like faster weapon switching, changing gear outside the tent, detailed display of monster hide toughness, and more.
Today’s show included an extended cut of the latest trailer for Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance, revealing that Teostra is making an explosive return. Hunters can look forward to battling the fire-breathing Elder Dragon when the massive expansion launches in 2027 across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC via Steam.
The expansion’s producer Ryozo Tsujimoto and director Takuro Hiraoka also delivered new details to prepare Hunters for the adventures that await, including a breakdown on the Boost Bracer, which enhances the action and makes hunts even more exhilarating.
Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance players can also look forward to several refinements to further improve their gameplay experience, including faster weapon swapping without the use of a Seikret mount, changing equipment outside the tent with the Item Box, and more! These improvements will also be available in the Monster Hunter Wilds base game.
Monster Hunter Wilds launches for Nintendo Switch 2 on December 4, 2026. Physical pre-orders of the game are available now, with digital pre-orders starting from October 19.
Update: Capcom has announced changes coming to character editing with vouchers going away. Details are below:

In preparation for the release of Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance, scheduled for 2027, there will be various changes made to Character Edits.
In line with these changes, we will be ending the distribution of Character Edit Vouchers on the dates given below. We are also distributing a special bonus gift to those who have paid for Character Edit Vouchers in the past.Changes Coming to Character Edits
With the launch of Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance, players will be able to re-edit the appearance of their hunter as many times as they like, free of charge and without the need for a Character Edit Voucher.
– Note: The character edit update will be implemented in the Ver. 2 update released with the 2027 launch of Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance, and will be applicable to the base game of Monster Hunter Wilds as well.
The changes made to Character Edits is intended to provide a more enjoyable experience to players.
End of Service for Character Edit Vouchers and Temporary Measure
Character Edit Vouchers will no longer be available upon the release of Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance in 2027. As a temporary measure until the update, free Character Edit Vouchers will be distributed.

Note: After applying the game update from the date listed above, the vouchers will be automatically added to your existing voucher balance.

Update 2: Capcom has also revealed that players will be able to change HUD elements, such as the clock position, health and stamina gauge effects, and item display settings in the item box, to match the look of previous titles in the series. You can find the HUD element options below:
If you missed the recent news, a Monster Hunter Wilds Prologue Demo is now available following a recent update. The demo includes all weapon types and story content until Chapter 1-3 "To the Forest" with save data carrying over to the full release. In addition to the demo, Monster Hunter Wilds has gotten a permanent price drop with new DLC bundles available.
