How to upgrade to The Witcher 3 Remastered on Switch 2 if you own the Switch 1 version digitally
If you own the Switch version of The Witcher 3 or The Witcher 3 Complete Edition, you can claim The Witcher 3 Remastered for free from the eShop. Make sure you use the same region eShop and account from where you bought the game originally. There are no added steps required here.
How to upgrade to The Witcher 3 Remastered on Switch 2 if you own the Switch 1 physical version on cartridge
I've included a step-by-step guide on upgrading The Witcher 3 on Switch 1 physically to the new remaster on Switch 2:
- Update the physical release of The Witcher 3 to version 4.04d (or whatever latest update is available in your region). The update just went live for today's launch.
- Launch the game.
- Once you get to the title screen, click on the "Now available for Nintendo Switch 2" menu option.
- This will load the eShop. It takes a bit of time so give it a few seconds.
- From here, click "Free download"
- The Witcher 3 Remastered will now be added to your account and you can play it for free without inserting the Switch 1 cartridge.
