Tokyo Xanadu introduces NPCs and more battle system tidbits

Falcom has introduced a few more NPCs for Tokyo Xanadu, as well some more information about combat systems for the action-RPG.

Shiori Kurashiki is Kou's childhood friend who finds herself caught up in the incidents happening around the city. Ryouta Ibuki is also Kou's friend from elementary school - a cheerful and friendly student. Last is Jun Kohinata, a timid boy well-liked by the girls in his class and also fond of anime and otaku culture.

There are five main elements in Tokyo Xanadu and as you might expect, each element has an advantage over another: Fire > Wind > Steel > Spirit > Fire. Shadow is unique in that it is most effective against itself.

Each character has an innate element so it is important to switch characters when battling in order to be most effective against enemies. The images below show the elemental breakdown.

The weapons the characters wield in Tokyo Xanadu are called 'Soul Devices', and they can be upgraded and tweaked by using Master Cores and a skill/ability grid.

The Master Core is set in the middle and is usually placed with a core of the same elemental attributes as the character, but in special circumstances can be manipulated to use alternative elements. The grid surrounding the core is used to boost shooting, flying, and other skills by raising their attack power and lowering their SP cost.

Passive abilities and boosts can also be added using these grids. The player must find certain items and materials in order to gain these new abilities.
