Bandai Namco has officially revealed through a live stream at Niconico that the new God Eater console game they had been teasing is indeed confirmed to be God Eater 3, a proper new numbered game to the God Eater series. They have also opened a teaser page on the Japanese official site.
God Eater is a hunting action game in a similar vein to Monster Hunter, but it has succeeded in building its own fanbase thanks to the deeply written storyline and world settings, along with likable anime-style characters.
Soon after the original Japanese trailer was shown, Bandai Namco's Asian branch promptly uploaded an English sub version of the trailer, which might signify that God Eater 3 may see a simultaneous worldwide release similar to Code Vein, the brand-new IP coming from the same team headed by Yusuke Tomizawa. You can see in the trailer that the new character in God Eater 3 will be able to dual-wield God Arcs with gauntlets attached to both of his hands.
Bandai Namco Entertainment America has already announced that God Eater 3 will be localized. Here is the publisher's description of the game's premise:
Earth no longer resembles the home we know of now. The Aragami, terrifying beasts that live only to consume, are carving a path of destruction and misery wherever they are encountered. To combat this threat an elite group of heroes known as God Eaters are called upon to save humanity. God Eaters are individuals who have been bestowed upon them the ability to wield powerful new God Arcs, special weapons powered by Oracle Cells and the only known weapons capable of destroying the monstrous Aragami. However, another mission is coming into focus; something is happening to the God Eaters and the line between light and dark has never been so thin. It’s time to start breaking free from the cursed shackles that bind the souls of the God Eaters as the battle rages on around them.
However, as of this reveal, Bandai Namco has not revealed the platforms or release date yet. We will post more news on God Eater 3 at this site, so stay tuned!
