Famitsu provides a final batch of information on Yakuza Kiwami 2 in preparation of the Japanese release

This week's Famitsu dedicated more than a handful of pages to Yakuza Kiwami 2 to celebrate the Japanese release. While most information was a rehash of what was covered in previous issues, there were a few bits of new information gleaned from the article. We'll be provided a refresher to some of the new features made available to this remaster of the PS2 era classic.

The article included a brief summary of the events before Yakuza Kiwami 2, effectively giving backstory to both Yakuza 0 and Yakuza Kiwami. Feel free to check out our reviews of Yakuza 0 and Yakuza Kiwami if you are interested in picking up either of these titles. A synopsis of Yakuza Kiwami 2 also prefaced this batch of information and included an elaborate character relationship tree.

Numerous mini-games were recapped in the article, including golf, the 1995 arcade game Cyber Troopers Virtual-On which is available to play at the SEGA Arcade locations in Yakuza Kiwami 2, the improved clan creator from Yakuza 6, and the immensely popular cabret club mini-game from Yakuza 0. While there is little said about the arcade game and numerous play spots in both Sotenbori and Kamurocho for this round-up, there has been additional information revealed for a mini-game related to recruitment for the clan creator.

This mini-game in particular comes in the form of series of optional requests Kiryu can take on as Club Debolah's bouncer. Through fulfilling these optional requests and challenges you can recruit more members for your clan. However, these challenges are quite difficult and it is advised that you train and collect weapons to use at your disposal before accepting any of these requests.

Training Kiryu's body in Kiwami 2 will be similar to the mechanic used in Yakuza 6 which will encourage players to visit eateries in order to gain points to subsequently level up Kiryu's stats.

Additionally, through Cabaret GP you will be able to go on dates with Kiryu's competition. These events are similar to the hostess training sessions in Yakuza 0, which also means the player will have the opportunity to have small conversations with the proprietresses' as well.
