Get to know the Ludens in Death end re;Quest

Compile Heart published a new information batch for Death end re;Quest in the latest Weekly Famitsu magazine. The latest batch focuses on a new group of characters called Ludens.

Ludens are mysterious characters that shouldn't have existed in the VR MMORPG Worlds Odyssey. They appear in front of Shina and her team, asking her to teach "Emotions" to them. Each of the Ludens has their own unique abilities. By obtaining their support, players will be able to get benefits such as warping to previously visited places, challenging the replayable Pain Area, and enhance battle systems like Insect Summons and Code Jacking.

Ripuka, a character that has been introduced from long ago, is revealed to be one of the Ludens. She administers "Killing Intent", so she moves around with the desire to find a target to kill. You can read more about the new characters and areas right below.

Ludens characters

  • Alice: The girl featured at the right side of the preview scan is one of the Ludens who administers "Desire". She has the most cordial personality among the Ludens, but she also has a habit to look down on her conversation partner sometimes.
  • Nova: The girl in purple clothing at the lower left screenshot is one of the Ludens who has a very aggressive behavior. She administers "Pain", so she has a quirky masochistic pleasure where she acts in order to make herself feel pain.
  • Levin: Among the Ludens known to exist so far, he is currently the only male character known. Perhaps because he administers "Fear", he is always cowering in fear of something.

Strain Area
In Death end re;Quest, Shina and her team will enter a monochrome dimension, which is called by the Ludens as Strain Area. The Ludens live in this dimension, which also connects to all places in Worlds Odyssey. There are countless doors floating in the area, which will connect to places in the game world. By borrowing the power of Ludens, Shina and her team will be able to instantly travel to places around Worlds Odyssey.

Pain Area
This dungeon is being controlled by Nova. It has multiple floors, and many strong enemies dwell inside. As this dungeon is created for replay value, losing battles here will not cause a Game Over. However, it will be difficult to win battles here if allies are not strengthened enough. By passing through the fierce battles, players will be able to obtain rare items that are only available here.
