Borderlands: The Handsome Collection to receive 'Ultra HD' update on April 3
Gearbox Software and 2K Games have announced a free Ultra HD update for Borderlands: The Handsome Collection, which contains both Borderlands 2 and Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel. This update lands on April 3 for PlayStation 4 Pro, Xbox One X, and PC, the same day as Borderlands: Game of the Year Edition.

This brand new Ultra HD texture pack increases the visual fidelity of Borderlands: The Handsome Collection and its DLC on consoles, and provides a visual upgrade for Borderlands 2, Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel, and all their DLC on PC! Upgrade game textures such as characters, vehicles, weapons, and environments. Players will best appreciate all the added detail at 4K resolution, but improvements can be enjoyed on other displays as well.
The Handsome Collection offers the complete story of the franchise’s most iconic villain: Handsome Jack. The collection includes critically-acclaimed shooter-looters Borderlands 2 and Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel, along with all of the downloadable content for both titles.
What’s New
The Ultra HD Texture Pack is a free visual upgrade available to both new and existing product owners. On PlayStation 4 Pro, the texture pack will appear as downloadable content on the digital product page for Borderlands: The Handsome Collection. On PC and Xbox One X, players will have the option to download the texture pack for Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel and Borderlands 2 separately.
On consoles, the Ultra HD Texture Pack includes:
- 4K Ultra HD resolution and HDR for Xbox One X and PlayStation 4 Pro players
- Remastered 4K environment textures, including geometry and skyboxes
- Remastered 4K characters and vehicles
- Updated weapon meshes and textures
- Re-encoded 4K Cinematics
- Improved Anti-Aliasing, including improved edge line implementation
- This includes improved ink line definition and framing/outline around character models
- Higher Resolution Dynamic Shadows
- Improved quality and smoothness of shadows, especially during movement
On PC, the Ultra HD Texture Pack includes:
- Remastered 4K environment textures, including geometry and skyboxes
- Remastered 4K characters and vehicles
- Remastered 4K weapon meshes and textures
- Improved Anti-Aliasing, including improved edge line implementation
- This includes improved ink line definition and framing/outline around character models
- Higher Resolution Dynamic Shadows
- Improved quality and smoothness of shadows, especially during movement
- Improved Screen Space Ambient Occlusion
- An improved SSAO method for more realistic ambient lighting
Please note that some of the above visual improvements are automatically enabled when the Texture Pack is installed. There is no need to manually enable them in the in-game Video settings menu.
