Shin Megami Tensei V is releasing worldwide in 2021 for Nintendo Switch

It's been a long, long time since we've heard anything from Shin Megami Tensei V, which was first announced over two years ago. During today's surprise Nintendo Mini Direct, Atlus announced that the highly anticipated sequel is finally slated for a simultaneous worldwide release in 2021, alongside a new trailer.

First announced in October of 2017, Shin Megami Tensei V has been a title we've been looking forward to for a long while, showing up on our Most Anticipated RPGs list of 2018, needless to say we had to wait a fair bit longer than that. Atlus also announced that Shin Megami Tensei III Nocturne HD Remaster will also release for Nintendo Switch (and PlayStation 4) in the spring of next year.

The most recent game in the mainline series, 2016's Shin Megami Tensei IV: Apocalypse, rated highly in our RPG Sites Awards for that year.

Here is a short blurb of the game, from Nintendo:

The next numbered entry in ATLUS’ beloved Shin Megami Tensei series is coming exclusively to Nintendo Switch. In this epic role-playing game, order itself has crumbled and chaos reigns over all. Shin Megami Tensei V will have a simultaneous global launch on Nintendo Switch in 2021
