Pokemon Legends Arceus: Where to find Turtwig, Piplup and Chimchar

One of the more unique aspects of Pokemon Legends Arceus is how it breaks with certain Pokemon traditions. Its Starter Pokemon are three series classics, for instance - and they're not even the only starter Pokemon in the game - you can get others! Generation 4 Starter Pokemon Turtwig, Piplup, and Chimchar are all available in the game if you know where to find them - they're rare.

This means you can actually get six starter Pokemon in the game, as it's possible to get all three Legends Arceus starter Pokemon and their Hisuian evolutions in the late game or via Space-Time Distortions, and then you can catch the original Gen 4 starters out in the wild, if you know where to look. For players looking to train a team featuring the classic trio, we've got you covered. This page will help you to track 'em down:

Where to find Turtwig in Pokemon Legends Arceus

Turtwig can be found in the South-Eastern section of the Crimson Mirelands, around the area marked on the map as the Droning Meadow - simply all you'll need is to have progressed far enough into the story where you can access the Mirelands, and you'll be able to find it at the below location.

As an aside, you can also find an Alpha Torterra at the "Holm of Trials" region in the south of the map - though you'll require the help of Basculegion to cross the waters in order reach it. Alternatively, you can evolve your Turtwig, of course - we detail the levels at which it can evolve in our Evolutions guide

Where to find Piplup in Pokemon Legends Arceus

Piplup can be found in the North-Western section of the Cobalt Coastlands. Don't even try jumping off Veilstone Cape to reach it; you'll want to wait until you've earned Basculegion's trust before attempting to reach your new Penguin friend.

Swim around Veilstone Cape and up to Islespy Shore. Nearby you'll also be able to find an Alpha Empoleon, if you wish to test your skills and luck, while the Piplup you desire is waiting on the Spring Path that's around Turnback cave. Consult the below pictures for where, exactly, to look.

Where to find Chimchar in Pokemon Legends Arceus

Before giving the permanent spawn location for Chimchar away, it's worth mentioning that you can find one early one thanks to Request #20: Mysterious Will-o'-the-Wisp. This quest has you tracking down a mysterious Pokemon that turns out to be a Chimchar - and you'll get an opportunity to catch it at the end of the quest.

For any Chimchars you wish to capture outside of the bounds of the request, however, you can find them on Ramanas Island, as pictured below. You'll require Basculegion to ferry you across the waves - and keep an eye out for an Alpha Infernape nearby. Whether you'll want to engage it or not, it appears incredibly close to where its much weaker siblings spawn.

If tracking down Rare Pokemon is your intention, RPG Site has plenty more pages to help you to that end including where to catch Turtwig, Piplup and Chimchar (the original Sinnoh starters), how to find & then evolve Hisuian Arcanine, how to evolve Scyther into Kleavor, where to catch Basculin to evolve into Basculegion, and how to complete The Sea's Legend, which is one of the most challenging quests in the game.
