Zelda Tears of the Kingdom: How to get the Tunic of Memories, Link's Outfit from BOTW

There's a wide variety of armors in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom including returning favorites from the previous game, throwbacks to even older Zelda titles, and all-new get-ups for Link to try. One look that isn't easy to find, however, is the fit Link wore back in Breath of the Wild, the Champion's Tunic. But it is there, if you know where to look for it.

You'd be forgiven for thinking that you might already have the closest thing to the Champion's Tunic in this game in the form of its upgraded variant, the Champion's Leathers. This is hidden in Hyrule Castle, with notes to Zelda pointing you to it, as our guide describes. However, the original BOTW outfit is actually in TOTK as well - you just have to know where to look for it. Luckily, we're here to explain.

How to get the Tunic of Memories, the BOTW outfit, in TOTK

If you want to party like it's 2017, it is possible to obtain a fresh set of Link's Champion's outfit from BOTW - known in this game as the Tunic of Memories.

Previously known as the Champion's Tunic, the iconic blue outfit from BOTW has been renamed the Tunic of Memories in Tears of the Kingdom - described as a garment that "could only be worn by one who had earned the respect of the royal family." Unlike Zelda's upgraded variant, it features no leather shoulder guard and the other add-ons - it's exactly as you remember it.

To get your hands on the Tunic of Memories, you'll actually need to undertake the quest of uncovering all of the mysterious statues in the depths - the Bargainer Statues. You can hit the link to see our full guide on doing that, which is complete with a map.

As part of this mission, you'll also need to undertake the Call from the Depths quest - making this one of the more in-depth processes to unlock an armor in all of TOTK.

The way it works is pretty simple: each Bargainer Statue you discover adds more items to their shop, where you can trade Poes for rare weapons, items, and armor. There's six in the depths and one in Hyrule's Lookout Landing on the surface. Once you meet all seven, the Tunic of Memories will be added to the statue's store for 400 Poes.

You can exchange Poes with the statues in the depths to get the Tunic - but you'll need them to unlock it first.

The Tunic of Memories starts out with a defense stat of 4, and is upgraded primarily using materials farmed from the Light Dragon, which we also have some tips on helping you to locate if needed. You'll also need certain flowers, and even some materials from the other three dragons - it's a time-consuming one to fully upgrade!

If you want the full BOTW look, be sure to pair the Tunic of Memories with the Well-Worn Hair Band, which lets Link tie up his hair to restore his BOTW cut. That can be found in a well near a house in Hateno Village.
