How To Change Appearance in Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time
Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time is now available worldwide. If you've just bought it or are planning to, this Fantasy Life i appearance changing guide will cover everything about the in-game costumes, pre-order bonus, Digital Deluxe Edition cosmetics, and more.
Note that this guide has spoilers for Chapter 3 the main story of Fantasy Life i. I've included a second spoiler warning below just to be safe.
How to change your outfit in Fantasy Life i
Once you've progressed through the opening of the game and chosen your first Life (class), you will get a prompt about the Outfit Menu being unlocked on your Weird Pad (your main menu). This menu lists all the armor and cosmetics you own.
You can save outfits per class as well, which is great to see. The Fantasy Life i appearance option also lets you set a different look for your weapons based on what you've unlocked or crafted so far. To change your appearance in Fantasy Life i, go into the outfit menu (not the equipment one) and choose each part you want to equip. The game has a small mirror icon on these to indicate that they are visual changes only and do not affect your stats. You can also save different combinations of outfit parts and outfits as Sets. Fantasy Life i lets you save 30 per class which is amazing to see.
Note: There are main story spoilers below for Chapter 3.
How to change your appearance in Fantasy Life i
If you aren't happy with the appearance you set when you first started the game, you will have to wait until Chapter 3 to be able to change your full appearance. You could reach Chapter 3 very quickly if you focus on the main story or take 20 hours like I did because I was spending all my time on spending time with the different lives.

Once you are in Chapter 3 and unlock the Guild in your Base Camp, you need to finish the Duglas part of the quest titled "Digging Up Secrets of the Past". You initially cannot do much beyond talking to the NPCs in the Guild, but when you finish that portion of the quest and restore Duglas, you can interact with Boyle (the NPC on the left) and select "Change Appearance". You can do this as many times as you want and it costs nothing.
Where to claim the Fantasy Life i Digital Deluxe Edition outfits and costumes
You don't get access to the Fantasy Life i Digital Deluxe Edition DLC immediately. Once you play through the opening and follow the story for under an hour, you will be told to go to the Guild Office. You can access the Fantasy Life i Digital Deluxe Edition DLC from the Guild Office & Paladin's Guild in Eternia Village shown on the map below. Once you enter, interact with the Treasure Chest on the left and claim the Fantasy Life i Digital Deluxe Edition DLC content listed as the "Deluxe Edition" here. It will be listed below the pre-order bonus "New Adventurer's Pack".
If you're planning on getting it or already have it, make sure to check out all our Fantasy Life i game guides here.
