Pokemon Legends Z-A: How to catch Eevee, and all Evolution methods
Whenever a new Pokemon game releases, you can be sure that alongside Pikachu you'll be catching Eevee and its evolutions - Pokemon Legends: Z-A is no different. So, where can you catch Eevee this go around, and how easy is it to find the evolution stones to evolve it? Thankfully, getting all the Eeveelutions this go around is perhaps the easiest it has ever been. The hardest part will be finding an Eevee in the first place, and thankfully that too won't be all that difficult in the end. So, how do you catch one?

Where to catch Eevee
The answer to this question can change depending on how early into the game you want to catch an Eevee. While Wild Zone 19, unlocked near the end of the game, comes with guaranteed Eevee spawns, players can actually find them as rare spawns on top of buildings from the very beginning of the game. The only issue is that these Eevee are liable to turn tail and run away if you can't catch them quick enough. That, combined with a low catch rate even when defeated in battle, means that players might have a hard time catching an Eevee until they unlock Wild Zone 19. It's possible, but since they're random spawns until then we can't exactly recommend a spawn method. They seem to only appear on rooftops during the day, but other than that you'll just have to keep an eye out.
How to evolve Eevee
If you've played any other Pokemon game, then you already know the drill. Eevee evolves with Evolution Stones, with the exception of Espeon, Umbreon and Sylveon. These evolutions are based on friendship values, and Eevee will evolve once its friendship is maxed out. If it knows a Fairy-type move it will evolve into a Sylveon, but if it doesn't know one it will evolve into an Espeon during the day or an Umbreon during the night. The full list of evolutions are listed below for posterity:
- Flareon - Evolve using a Fire Stone
- Jolteon - Evolve using a Thunder Stone
- Vaporeon - Evolve using a Water Stone
- Espeon - Evolve via Friendship during the day, no Fairy-type moves known
- Umbreon - Evolve via Friendship during the night, no Fairy-type moves known
- Leafeon - Evolve using a Leaf Stone
- Glaceon - Evolve using an Ice Stone
- Sylveon - Evolve via Friendship while knowing a Fairy-type move
Since the majority of Eevee's evolutions require Evolution Stones, you might be wondering how you can find some. Thankfully, they're actually rather common across Lumiose - but even if you don't have the stone you need on hand, the Stone Emporium in Southern Lumiose offers every Evolution Stone you could ever need, at reasonable prices. As an aside, this is also one location where you can purchase Mega Stones for specific Mega Evolutions. This doesn't matter for Eevee, but it may be worth remembering for the future.

How to gain Friendship Quickly
While you will accrue friendship naturally over time, if you want to gain friendship quickly spending time at a cafe with your Eevee seems to accelerate the process, and several NPCs will actually make mention of just that. Grab a tea or coffee with your Eevee, and it seems like it will appreciate the quality time spent with you!
Wild Eeveelutions?
Finally, something to consider - while it's very easy to evolve Eevee yourself, you can actually find its evolutions as rare spawns. They're relatively common in Wild Zone 20, which is unlocked as part of the postgame, and you can also find them elsewhere if you're lucky. Chances are you won't need to catch any of them this way, but do keep an eye out for them! They tend to spawn as Alpha Pokemon, which of course means they'll know moves that they otherwise would be incapable of learning.
That's all! Eevee and all of its evolutions are as adorable as ever, so even outside of attempting to complete the Pokedex its well worth the effort to seek them all out. Have fun hunting them down, and have a great vacation in Lumiose City!
