Pokemon Legends: Z-A Postgame Guide - What unlocks after the credits

Much like with most games in the series, you probably wouldn't be shocked to learn that there's plenty to do even after Pokemon Legends: Z-A's credits roll. That's almost always been the case, it's no exception here. That being said, what exactly is the scope of the game's postgame content, and what will players be doing after solving the issue of Rogue Mega Evolution? How much more is there to do? We've put together a list of exactly what you can expect. It probably goes without saying, but there will be some spoilers about the game's story and characters listed below.

What unlock in the postgame?

Broadly speaking, Pokemon Legends: Z-A's postgame splits into two segments - the Infinite Z-A Royale, alongside and missions that split off from completing your first or 15th Reward Match, and random Pokemon spawns within the new Wild Zone 20, taking place where Prism Tower once stood.

The Infinite Z-A Royale

Despite the completion of the story, players will still be able to challenge the Z-A Royale every night - yet instead of gunning for Promotion Matches, players will take on Reward Matches after gaining Challenger Tickets, allowing you to fight semi-randomly assigned NPCs from the story, with rare Poke Balls, Exp Candy and more being offered as rewards for successful completion.

The Z-A Royale itself isn't the big unlock on its own, however, because there are still lingering elements of the story that are linked to completions of it:

  • Completing your first Infinite Z-A Royale Reward Match will have the player receive a notice to return to Hotel Z, where L will give you two missions related to capturing Xerneas and Yveltal
  • Competing your 15th Z-A Royale Reward Match (always againt your rival) will give you a cutscene tying a bow on their story arc, and gifting the player Eternal Flower Floette and its Mega Stone
  • Completing both of L's Missions by capturing both Xerneas and Yveltal (Main Mission 40 The One That Gives and Main Mission 41 The One That Takes) will have him challenge you to a final Trainer battle, and Zygarde challenging you to a Rogue Mega Evolution-style encounter before allowing itself to be caught

As far as we can tell, up until your 16th Infinite Z-A Royale Reward Match, your matched opponents will not truly be random; we didn't see any battles doubled up, and it would make sense for that to be the case considering your rival is always scripted to be your 15th Reward Match. As a side note, as part of Xerneas's Main Mission, Mable will assign you a specific research task related to it. Therefore, you will be unable to complete her research tasks without it. While it may technically be possible to unlock the Shiny Charm without that specific Request, I wouldn't personally bet on it for most players.

Wild Zone 20

Beyond the Infinite Z-A Royale, there's another simple addition - Wild Zone 20 makes up the area around Prism Tower, and features many rare Pokemon. All 3 starters regularly spawn here, and the guaranteed Alpha Pokemon in the center can include Pokemon otherwise locked to trade evolutions. While spawns are RNG, this does mean that you may be able to complete your Pokedex with minimal trading! Other fully evolved Pokemon can also spawn here, of course - including ones that require evolution items such as the Eeveelutions.

While it might not sound like too much of a postgame on paper, there's a decent amount for players to do - alongside clearing out the rest of the Side Missions, finishing up Mable's Requests, and more. There's plenty to do, so enjoy the rest of your vacation in Lumiose City!
