Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake: how to save your game

Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake: how to save your game

Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake is finally available worldwide for consoles and PC.  If you're new to the series and starting with this one or have been playing these games for a while, you're probably wondering how to save your game and whether Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake has autosaving.

Both games included in Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake have autosaving in addition to quick saving and manual saving. You can and should also make use of the manual save system included instead of only relying on autosaving. I'm going to cover both of those here since you're better off learning how these work to save yourself time while playing.

When does Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake autosave?

Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake automatically saves when you enter a town or dungeon, after battles, and more. The autosave system is very robust like Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake, but it has only a single autosave slot that is overwritten often. Don't rely on it completely and make sure to manually save.

When you first start a new game, you need to go through a few cut-scenes in both Dragon Quest I and Dragon Quest II. After this, you will gain control of your character with free movement.

In Dragon Quest II, you can save at the Nun in Midenhall near the Inn by talking to her.

In Dragon Quest I, you can save at the Church in Tantegel after going through some cut-scenes and walking towards the bottom of the map (south of the Castle) and then to the left.
