Disgaea 6: Defiance of Destiny will bring back legacy protagonists with 3D models

Nippon Ichi Software has published a new set of screenshots for Disgaea 6: Defiance of Destiny in Japan, which confirmed that legacy series protagonists and heroines from all prior mainline Disgaea titles will be added to the game. That also means they will receive new 3D models, as Disgaea 6 is the first title to employ full-3D battles.

Although Laharl and Flonne had been spotted since the initial reveal, the full extent of their appearances was just revealed today. Laharl, Etna, and Flonne will appear in the post-game story of Disgaea 6 as rivals to Zed's party, as Laharl is aiming for the "Strongest" title slot.

As for the protagonists and heroines from other mainline titles—Disgaea 2 through Disgaea 5, they will be made available via post-launch DLC. Disgaea 2's Adell and Rosalin are the first two characters confirmed to receive such a treatment. The remaining screenshots show more gameplay features, such as:

  • The ability to either explore Item Worlds by yourself or assigning another character to explore an Item World while you are doing another battle.
  • The new Team Attack system lets up to 10 characters coordinate at once.
  • Several monster-type generic allies are oversized and cover multiple tiles; the Pincer-Shell Tribe is one of them.
