Square Enix announces Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster Series for mobile and Steam

During today's Square Enix Presents Summer Showcase, a new series of classic Final Fantasy games was announced with Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster Series. Final Fantasy I through Final Fantasy VI will release individually for mobile and Steam, though no release window was announced.

The trailer shown for the game, found below, was a short one only giving us a very quick glimpse of what this re-release might look like. You can see quick glimpses of gameplay footage from about 0:15 to 0:22.

This announcement comes off the heels of an at-the-time seemingly random update to Final Fantasy III and Final Fantasy IV. Notably, the Pixel Remaster Series version of Final Fantasy III will be the first 2D version of the game available in English. Additionally, the Pixel Remaster Series versions of Final Fantasy I and Final Fantasy II will be the first time the two are available on a PC platform, and the Pixel Remaster Series version of Final Fantasy IV will be the first time a 2D version of that title will be available on mobile or Steam.

We'll have to wait for more information on this series.
