Super Robot Wars 30 revealed at Japanese E3 Nintendo Direct with 2021 release [Update: SEA English version confirmed]

Update: Bandai Namco has opened their own official website for Super Robot Wars 30, confirming that the anniversary title will come to not only Nintendo Switch but also PlayStation 4 and PC via Steam. They will reveal more details about the game, including the full roster, at the series 30th-anniversary stream on July 11.

Bandai Namco's Southeast Asian YouTube channel has also officially confirmed an English localization of SRW 30 in the works. The original story is available after the official English trailer right below.

Original: Japanese Nintendo Directs have shown exclusive games that did not exist in their American and European counterparts, and the E3 2021 edition is no exception either. Although the Advance Wars reveal was somehow absent in the Japanese Direct, it instead showed a much bigger surprise in Super Robot Wars 30, the much-awaited new console game marking the 30th anniversary of the mecha anime crossover strategy RPG series.

Based on the characters and mechs that appeared in the trailer, we have the following tentative list of titles that are set to appear in Super Robot Wars 30:

  • Super Electromagnetic Robo Combattler V (Hyoma Aoi in Combattler V)
  • Mazinger Z: Infinity (Koji Kabuto in Mazinger Z)
  • Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam (Kamille Bidan in Z Gundam)
  • Mobile Suit Gundam: Char's Counterattack (Amuro Ray appearing in dialogues)
  • Getter Robo Armageddon (Ryoma Nagare appearing in dialogues)
  • King of Braves GaoGaiGar Final (Guy Shishioh in GaoFighGar)
  • Code Geass: Lelouch of the Re;surrection (Suzaku Kururugi in Lancelot siN)

The Super Robot Wars 30 reveal trailer from the Japanese E3 2021 Nintendo Direct is available to watch right below:

This revelation was made in the Japanese Nintendo Direct, so we have yet to learn if Super Robot Wars 30 will come to more platforms other than Nintendo Switch. Bandai Namco should reveal the full title roster and platform list soon or by the "Super Thanksgiving Festival of Steel" 30th-anniversary stream set to air next month on July 11.

As Super Robot Wars 30 will feature a crossover of existing mecha anime titles, there are no words on whether the game will be available directly in the West. If we trace recent releases like V, X, and T, Bandai Namco should be able to at least announce a Southeast Asian English release at the same time.
