Nintendo's Q3 FY2022 results gives us sales numbers for Pokemon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl, and more

Nintendo has posted its financial results [PDF] for the third quarter of the fiscal year ending in March 2022, giving us some sales numbers for both newly released titles as well as lifetime sales updates for longstanding Nintendo Switch games.

The most notable new sales number we get this quarter is that for  Pokemon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl, which was released on November 19 worldwide. As of December 31, the pair of games have shipped 13.97 million units. The duo had hit six million units within their first week of launch.

For comparison, 2019's Pokemon Sword/Shield  had sold 16.06 million in the same timeframe after launch.

As usual, there's always quite a bit to sift through if you want information on all of Nintendo's catalog, but here at RPG Site, we'll focus on the RPG (or related) sales data. Here are the sales updates compared to one quarter ago for some of the biggest RPG-related games on Nintendo Switch.

  • The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild:  25.80 million (up from 24.13 million)

  • Pokemon Sword / Pokemon Shield: 23.90 million (up from 22.64 million)

  • Pokemon Let's Go Pikachu/Eevee: 14.33 million (up from 13.83 million)

  • Ring Fit Adventure: 13.53 million (up from 12.21 million)

  • The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD: 3.85 million (up from 3.60 million)

  • New Pokemon Snap: 2.36 million (up from 2.19 million,  does not include JP sales as it was published by The Pokemon Company in the region)

  • Miitopia: 1.63 million (up from 1.37 million)

Nintendo's hardware and software sales are still slightly down YoY, though that is largely due to Animal Crossing: New Horizons selling extremely well in FY2021, to say the least. With Pokemon Legends: Arceus having released in late January this month, it'll be interesting to see how its launch fairs when the full-year results land this Spring.
