Eiyuden Chronicle: Rising - 28 minutes of gameplay

Publisher 505 Games and developer Natsume Atari have posted 28 minutes of gameplay for Eiyuden Chronicle: Rising, via IGN. This is our first extended look at gameplay for the sidescroller RPG since Tokyo Game Show 2021.

For the uninitiated, Eiyuden Chronicle: Rising is a spinoff of Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes, a Suikoden series spiritual successor Kickstarted in 2020. Since development on Hundred Heroes was going to take several years — not planned for release until 2023 — creator Yoshitaka Murayama decided to release a spinoff game in the meantime, introducing the Eiyuden world while offering a different style of gameplay.

The footage below shows Rising's sidescroller gameplay, featuring three playable characters in the slow-but-heavy-hitting Garoo, the nimble climbing-ax-wielding CJ, and the magic-slinging Isha. There is also a town-building element, where you not only level up the trio, but also the town of New Nevaeh, as well as your exploration tool.

The gameplay walkthrough can be found below, primarily showing a lava-based level, boss battle, and some dialogue. Eiyuden Chronicle Rising is set to release soon for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Xbox Games Pass, Nintendo Switch, and PC (Steam, Epic).
