Dragon Quest X Beta Applications to open this month

Square Enix Japan have revealed their plans for the Beta of Dragon Quest X: Rise of the Five Tribes Online, including details on how it'll work and how to sign up if you're interested.

Applications for the beta will begin later this month, but in order to apply you'll have to - obviously own a Wii, have the Wii connected to the internet and be based in Japan but also have a Square Enix Members account.

Folks who get in will then be mailed a beta kit by Square Enix to their Square Enix Members address, including a beta disc, instruction manual and a USB memory stick to pop into the back of the Wii for game data storage purposes.

Square Enix goes on to warn that characters created in the beta will most likely not carry forward to the final game and will only have a small amount of story progression included. Participants will also have to agree to not post images or video of the Beta online, but we can't see that lasting long.

There's a full FAQ from Square Enix about the beta online - in Japanese - right now. If you want to know a little more about Dragon Quest X in general, you can find the first screenshots, trailer and in-depth information on the game on the site now.
