Warframe: The Duviri Paradox expansion launches an alternative introduction for new players

Digital Extremes has launched what it's calling the "biggest expansion yet" for Warframe, its long-running multiplayer action-RPG. Titled Warframe: The Duviri Paradox, the expansion adds a new open-world zone to the game. Though Warframe already has several large open-world areas to explore, The Duviri Paradox's titular zone, Duviri, serves a different purpose, as it's designed as a nearly standalone area and an alternative starting point for players new to Warframe.

Check out the official gameplay trailer for Warframe: The Duviri Paradox below.

The gameplay trailer outlines the new experience in store for players old and new. While The Duviri Paradox is accessible to players who have existing Warframe characters, it can also be selected as a "path" by players who are starting the game for the first time. First-time players can elect for the traditional "Warframe Path", which launches them into the beginning missions of Warframe's introductory campaign, or choose the "Paradox Path", in which they assume the role of a new character called The Drifter. The Drifter is stuck on Duviri, a world that exists at the whims of the mad king Dominus Thrax. Robbed of color and life, Duviri reshapes itself according to Thrax's wishes, and The Drifter has been reliving the same day for what seemed to be an eternity. That is, until something new arrived to interrupt his scheduled execution. The new artifact lends The Drifter the power to break the "Spiral", escaping the Paradox.

Besides a story-driven main quest and other side activities in the Paradox, players will be able to experience roguelike variation within the space, gaining semi-randomized versions of existing Warframe loadouts to try and adapt to, with no cost or grinding required. Existing players will also be able to explore the Paradox, retaining the selection of loadouts they've cultivated over time through the traditional process. Players who begin in Duviri will be able to eventually leave, taking up activities in the "regular" Warframe structure.

Warframe: The Duviri Paradox is available for free within Warframe, which is present on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch.
