God Wars series surpasses 400,000 units sold

Dragami Games has announced that the God Wars series of tactical RPGs has surpassed 400,000 units sold.

God Wars: Future Past originally released for PlayStation Vita and PlayStation 4 in 2017, developed by Kadokawa Games and localized by NIS America (you can read my original review here). The game later received a "Legend of Yomi" expansion and a re-release in God Wars: The Complete Legend on Nintendo Switch and PC (Steam), which made numerous adjustments to game mechanics in addition to new story content.

So, plainly speaking the "God Wars series" in this case functionally means the original release and re-release of a single game.

However, a God Wars 2 was announced all the way back in 2018, although nearly six years later and nothing else has been said about the title.

Compounding all of this is that Kadokawa Games split up some of its video game studios in 2022, with much of the publisher's IP and development capacity going to a new company, Dragami Games. Several English versions of Kadokawa titles — including God Wars: The Complete Legend — were delisted from storefronts last year, likely due to circumstances surrounding the studio restructuring. God Wars: The Complete Legend is currently only available for purchase via Steam, from Dragami Games.

I personally had assumed with the Kadokawa restructure that God Wars 2 would have been silently canceled, but maybe with Dragami making this milestone announcement that there is hope for a sequel after all.
