Japanese Mecharashi release Metal Storm gets Evangelion crossover content on June 4
Update (June 4)
The Evangelion crossover event is now live in Metal Storm as promised, and HK Ten Tree has also published a new press release detailing the added content. The company added that players of the Japanese version have until Wednesday, July 9, to get the exclusive content.
All players can get Shinji recruited as a playable pilot for free for the event's duration. There will also be exclusive stages and missions during the event which, when completed, will unlock the EVA-01 themed ST mech Dawnbreaker-01.
Rei and Asuka, along with their respective ST mechs Dawnbreaker-00 and Dawnbreaker-02, will be available exclusively via the Scout gacha banners. As a side note, this crossover is more based on the Rebuild of Evangelion series, as the Asuka who appears here is Shikinami instead of Soryu.
Original (May 30)
HK Ten Tree has announced that they will add Evangelion crossover content to Metal Storm, the Japanese release of Mecharashi, on June 4. This will be the first Japanese franchise to provide crossover content to the Chinese-made free-to-play strategy RPG originally developed as Front Mission: Borderscape.
The teaser image indicates that this crossover event will add Shinji, Rei, and Asuka as new playable pilots. It will also bring in new ST mechs inspired by the Evangelion Units 01, 00, and 02.
The announcement was made via a tweet from the Japanese release's official X account, which is also viewable right below:

Previously in March, we reported on how Square Enix filed a lawsuit against Ten Tree for reusing assets from the canceled Front Mission: Borderscape in the Japanese Metal Storm release. Ten Tree has since updated the game to refresh the infringing assets with new original ones. And last week on May 23, the Hong Kong company published a statement that they had made an amicable settlement with Square Enix.
This settlement means that Metal Storm can continue to exist in Japan, and Ten Tree can also bring the crossover content that originally appeared in the Chinese release in July 2024 to the Japanese server without any more legal repercussions.
Ten Tree is also still planning to bring the game to the global audience as Mecharashi, though we notice that the Steam page has since been updated to change the publisher's name from Sugarfun to Ten Tree, while removing the Front Mission inspiration references.
