Red Hook Studios is happy to announce that a free DLC is launching for Darkest Dungeon II today!
The community’s long awaited hero origin skins - the version of the Darkest Dungeon II heroes that players can see in the Shrine of Remembrance - will be available for free on PC and Mac via Steam, Epic Games Store, and GoG. This free DLC will also make its way to consoles at a later date. In addition, the adding of the hero origin skins laid the groundwork necessary for Red Hook Studios to expand Darkest Dungeon II’s modding tools. This means from today the game will also allow for character modding, such as custom character skins and weapon kits.
Additionally, the Steadfast Steward’s Update is in full swing in its fifth build week. This collaborative effort between Red Hook Studios and the Darkest Dungeon community is focused on quality of life improvements like hero reworks, tooltip improvements, adding combat and driving speed settings, and other miscellaneous changes. Players will be able to play new builds weekly and feedback their thoughts to the team directly in the Darkest Dungeon Discord.
During the Steam Summer Sale, Darkest Dungeon II will be 50% off. Darkest Dungeon II DLC is also discounted, with The Binding Blade on sale for 25% off and Inhuman Bondage marked down to 20% off.
In May, Red Hook Studios celebrated the two year anniversary of Darkest Dungeon II’s 1.0 release. In the past year the team was proud to launch the game on Mac and console, add mod support, introduce the brand new game mode Kingdoms and launch the Inhuman Bondage DLC. The game is still set to receive an influx of new content and features, including the highly anticipated third Kingdoms module, comprehensive hero reworks, and as well as a haunting physical edition for Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 5. The Darkest Dungeon II: Anniversary Edition is set for release in Q4 2025.
