Ahead of its launch next month, Final Fantasy Tactics - The Ivalice Chronicles got a new gameplay trailer during gamescom 2025.

This trailer goes over the enhancements, tactical RPG gameplay, UX updates, and much more. The gameplay trailer follows the recent one we had during the Nintendo Direct.

If you've not kept up with it, since its announcement, we've learned what scripts are used in which versions of Final Fantasy Tactics - The Ivalice Chronicles, the Switch 2 version being a digital-only release in the West with a free upgrade from the Switch version, how it does not include the The War of the Lions content, and more.

Final Fantasy Tactics - The Ivalice Chronicles launches on September 30 for PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X|S, and PC (Steam).

Today, Square Enix released a new gameplay trailer for the highly anticipated tactical RPG, FINAL FANTASY TACTICS - The Ivalice Chronicles. The trailer gives an exciting overview of the game’s moment-to-moment action, showcasing the genre-defining tactical RPG experience that made FINAL FANTASY TACTICS a classic, as well as modern enhancements that make the upcoming release as accessible as ever, including enriched visuals, UX updates, and a sampling of the game’s superb voice acting. FINAL FANTASY TACTICS - The Ivalice Chronicles is set to launch on September 30, 2025 on all major consoles and PC.

The new trailer provides a quick look at the tactical combat and unit management systems that define the game’s thrilling, yet challenging, tactical battles. Players can also get a glimpse at the game’s robust job system, in-depth ability progression, and deep character systems. Battles will require players to wisely traverse the tile-based battlefield, search for advantageous positioning, and determine which of the wide range of melee attacks, spells and other abilities to secure victory. Recruiting powerful allies and developing their job abilities over time will be key - but be careful, as allies who fall in battle may be permanently lost if aid does not reach them in time. 

Hailed as one of gaming’s greatest stories, players will step into the Kingdom of Ivalice—a medieval world steeped in political conflict— where players will uncover the truth behind the young noble Ramza Beoulve, whose role on history’s stage has been buried from view. The dramatic tale of ambition, betrayal, and honor will come to life with an updated and enriched script with fully voiced dialogue, alongside improved graphics that bring a new level of immersion and playability to the battlefield. Additionally, the enhanced version brings quality-of-life updates like new difficulties, a revamped UI, auto save, and more that make the game more accessible to newcomers. The game features strategic, turn-based combat and an elaborate character progression system that makes every battle exhilarating and filled with unexpected twists.
