Dragon Quest VII Reimagined will have several episodes and features omitted and replaced

Square Enix's Tokyo Game Show 2025 panel for Dragon Quest VII Reimagined contained several major bombshells that confirm not all episodes and features from prior releases will be included here. But in exchange for the removed content, the development team promised that they would compensate by adding other more relevant stories and features.

The three cut episodes would have taken place in Krage / GrondalLitorud / El Ciclo, and Probina / Providence. Four side activities will also no longer be available; namely the Casino, Monster Park, World Ranking, and Immigrant Town. The game's producer Takeshi Ichikawa noted that his team had consulted with Yuji Horii to remove episodes that are not too related to the main story, as they want to focus more on improving the game's tempo and adding more depth to the main storyline.

In exchange for the removed scenarios, the team will add new episodes, with one of them featuring the protagonist and Maribel in their childhood years. They will also add a new Colosseum Arena, while retaining the Lucky Panel minigame—although the latter will be made different from the prior releases.

An archive of the Japanese stream is accessible right below, and the relevant announcements can be found from the 22:30 mark. Dragon Quest VII Reimagined will be available for Nintendo Switch 1 & 2, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam and Microsoft Store on February 5, 2026.
