Nippon Ichi will release Curse Warrior for Switch, PS4, and PS5 on March 26 in Japan

Nippon Ichi Software has revealed that they will release Curse Warrior for Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 5, as well as PlayStation 4 digitally in Japan on March 26, 2026

This game was initially teased with the codename Curse during Nippon Ichi's Untitled// presentation earlier this year, in March 2025. But while the company initially set a 2025 release window for Curse, this game is ultimately set to miss that window as it is slated for release a whole year after the presentation.

The general gist of the gameplay flow in this game is that the player will first form a band of adventurers to explore a dungeon, with the battles taking place with turn-based commands. They can take quests at a dungeon's entrance, but they will have to complete the quests without annihilating the whole party to gain experience and rewards.

As mentioned in the initial teaser, Curses will play key roles in the gameplay here. A party member will definitely get a Curse in the dungeon from triggered traps or sustaining damage from enemy attacks that can also increase a character's Curse Gauge. However, Curses have not only negative effects but also positive buffs. The negative effects can also be later nullified in a city's Rainbow Eyes facility.

Purifying a Curse will also generate points that can be spent to improve facilities in the city. However, the character whose Curse is being purified will have to stay isolated for quite some time, so the player will have to prepare more reserve members as well.

Curses with similar attributes can also merge into a more powerful Curse. However, the player will also need to pay attention to the Curse Gauge, as the character whose gauge reaches 300% will immediately die from the overwhelming curse.

As of this reveal, there are 8 known character jobs—or rather, 4 archetypes with 2 types each—available. When the player goes to recruit characters at the Wolf Moon Tavern, characters from the same class will be distinguished by different colors on their features like hair or eyes.

Our translations for the Archetypes' descriptions are as follows:

Cleric / Paladin

  • Tank roles with high health and defense
  • Also have reliable attacks with a high critical rate
  • Have the lowest resistance rate against Curses, so they are the easiest classes to get inflicted
  • Better placed at the front
  • Examples of skill effects:
    • Deals major damage against Undead-type monsters
    • Heals allies within range
    • Increases defense while directing enemy attacks towards oneself

Barbarian / Fighter

  • Melee fighters who have high health and attack
  • High resistance against stunning
  • Have the lowest speed stat
  • Better placed at the front
  • Examples of skill effects:
    • Deals major damage against Living-type monsters
    • Turns regular damage into major damage
    • Deals multiple attacks against a target

Ranger / Archer

  • Long-range physical attackers who can snipe from afar with high accuracy rate
  • Also have high speed stat
  • Very frail due to low defense stat
  • Better placed at the back
  • Examples of skill effects:
    • Attacks a target while reducing their defense stat
    • Deals major damage against a target already inflicted with poison
    • Launches multiple attacks on random targets

Sorcerer / Wizard

  • Magic attackers with high accuracy rate
  • Have the lowest defense stat, so they will immediately fall into a pinch when hit
  • Better placed at the back

    • Gives a specific stat buff to an ally
    • Deals wide-range damage to the whole enemy party
