A new supernatural mystery adventure set during summer on an outlying island of the Ise-Shima region in Japan's Mie prefecture, this coming-of-age story revolves around a mysterious legend concerning mermaids and immortality.
Paths cross and destinies collide as they come closer to a shocking drama surrounding the mermaid's curse, a legend that has been obscured by the fog of history for so long.
Step into a remote island in August 198X nestled in Ise-Shima, Mie Prefecture.
The remote island of Kameshima sits nestled in Ise bay. Yuza Minakuchi is a young pearl diver who lives on the island and spends his days underwater gathering, together with his best friend Azami Kumoi.
After he has a bewildering supernatural experience encountering another version of himself on the ocean floor, a series of curses start to befall the island... A girl of unknown origins, a treasure hunter from a foreign land and a mysterious housewife investigating a drowning. Paths cross and destinies collide as they come closer to the secret of the Mermaids of Ise, a legend that has been obscured by the fog of history for so long.
Characters
Yuza Minakuchi
A quiet but self-assured young man living on the island of Kameshima. He is working as an ama diver, having taken over from his grandmother following her retirement. His parents died in a maritime accident five years ago, and on the occasion of their death, he experiences something truly strange.
Azami Kumoi
An childhood friend of Yuza's. He inherited his late father's fishing boat, and he is now working as a fisherman. He has a friendly and caring personality, considered reliable by those around him, and he prides himself on his love for his hometown, which he argues is greater than anybody else's.
Sato Shiranami
A mysterious girl who arrived at Kameshima a few months ago. It seems that she may have lost her memory…
Tsukasa Awao
A bright and energetic girl who was born and raised on Kameshima. She is currently living on the mainland while she attends high school there. She is a childhood friend of Yuza's and Azami's. She has become quite good friends with Sato during her time at home.
Arnav Barnum
An American who came to Japan with his passion for romantic tales and appetite for chasing his dreams. He is a professional author of fantasy and occult novels. It would appear that he has come to Ise-Shima in search of mermaids. His nickname is "Avi". He is 40 years old and unmarried.
Circe Lunarlight
Circe is a young girl who is an exorcist. She was born into a well-known family in England, and she is currently on exchange in Japan. She is well-versed in Japanese folklore and the occult, so Avi, a relative of hers, has requested her services as a guide.
Yumeko Shiki
Yumeko claims to be a housewife from Tokyo. But it seems more like she's here to carry out some kind of investigation…
Sodo Kiryu
Yumeko's young assistant. There appears to be more to him than meets the eye.
