1990 PC-8801mkIISR release of Mugen no Shinzou III gets an EGG Console Switch port
D4 Enterprise is gradually releasing a new EGG Console port on Nintendo Switch based on the 1990 PC-8801mkIISR release of Mugen no Shinzou III / Heart of Dreams III. It is set to be available on Nintendo eShops worldwide, including in the US store at $6.49.
This also marks the completion of the Mugen no Shinzou / Heart of Dreams trilogy on the Switch. D4 Enterprise had previously ported the first game last June, followed by the second one in November.
You can find the official trailer, screenshots, and descriptions for the Mugen no Shinzou III port right below. Just like most of the prior EGG Console ports, the actual game is only available in its original Japanese-language release.
Fifteen dimensional realms, pierced by the Creator's "Holy Sword," formed this world. It was ruled by the "Gods of Light" and "Gods of Darkness," empowered and charged with leading the world toward peace.
However, a minor dispute ignited an all-out war between the two factions, engulfing all fifteen dimensions. This conflict raged for millions of years, until the "Holy Sword"—caught in the devastating battles—was shattered into pieces.
By the time the Gods realized their error and rushed to repair the world, it was too late. The Gods of Light held only three realms, including "Elder Ain," and the sword's hilt. The Gods of Darkness held only three realms, including "Chaos," and the sword's tip.
The remaining nine realms wander through distorted dimensions even now. These nine worlds are known as the "Dream World."
The war between the gods left dimensional rifts scattered throughout all fifteen realms. To prevent their remaining three realms from drifting apart, each faction forged a smaller "Holy Sword" from their respective fragments.
The blade created by the Gods of Light is called "Hilt Slayer," while the one forged by the Gods of Darkness is named "End Slayer."
Just as the Creator had once done, the two factions pierced the center of their three realms with these swords. They then fell into a deep sleep to gather the energy needed to restore the final realms of the "Dream World."Released by Crystal Soft in 1990, this RPG begins immediately after the events of "II." The story follows a battle-hardened warrior, who has survived the Dream World, as they finally return to the familiar sights of their original world.
This game features a top-down view and symbol encounters. You will explore with a party of up to four members. While the protagonist is human, your potential allies are incredibly diverse—ranging from familiar races like Elves and Dwarves to massive creatures like Dragons and Giants. In this title, equipment is tied to race rather than class, making your choice of race just as vital as your class. Upon reaching Level 13, characters can choose specific abilities to undergo a Class Change. By selecting certain paths, you can unlock even further Class Changes at higher levels.
Combat uses an intuitive auto-battle system involving physical attacks and magic. Defense is highly effective against physical strikes and is the key to mastering battles.
Highly regarded as a foundation of the JRPG genre, this series offers an epic saga. We invite you to experience the roots of Japanese RPGs by playing through the entire trilogy.
