Ubisoft Finally Reveals Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced, Launches July 9

After months of rumors and leaks, Ubisoft has finally, officially, announced Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced, a full-blown Anvil Engine remake of the swashbuckling entry, launching on July 9 for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.

In a lengthy 28-minute reveal showcase, Edward Kenway actor Matt Ryan talks to various members of the Resynced development team and dives into the many changes coming with this remake. You can see the full video below.

"From the start, the intention was clear. Deliver a faithful and enriched experience, grounded in what players love," says Game Director Richard Knight, "We've rebuilt the entire adventure using our latest Anvil Engine. Expect fully overhauled visuals, new additions that deepen its world, and enhanced gameplay both on land and at sea."

Resynced features of a variety of new content compared to the original game, including three new officer characters you can recruit to your ship, The Jackdaw: Lucy Baldwin, The Padre, and Deadman Smith. Each of these characters has their own narrative questline to follow, while the modern-day story has been completely redesigned.

Combat has also been overhauled to be more action-oriented, adding in new abilities like a grappling hook that Kenway can use to pull enemies in close. Parkour is another area improved, made to be more in line with the series' modern controls, giving you the ability to back eject and side eject while climbing. And perhaps even more notably, the game now has a dedicated crouch and stealth button.

However, Resynced will not include any of the multiplayer modes or DLC for the original Black Flag, which includes the Adewale-focused Freedom Cry. Ubisoft cites the reason for this as focusing on the single-player experience of Black Flag, in its original form.

Ubisoft has also announced a Collector's Edition for Resynced and the PC specs. The $199.99 edition will include a new statue of Edward Kenway, a notebook with Kenway's diary entries, a brooch, a cloth map, and more.

Ubisoft announced that the next installment in the Assassin’s Creed™ franchise, Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced, will release worldwide on July 9th, 2026. The game will be available on Ubisoft+*, PlayStation®5, Xbox Series X|S, as well as Windows PC through the Ubisoft Store, Steam, and the Epic Games Store.

Led by Ubisoft Singapore** Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced is a faithful remake of Assassin’s Creed IV Black Flag, originally released in 2013. Rebuilt from the ground up and powered by the latest Anvil engine, the game features updated visuals and enriched gameplay, including parry‑driven combat, improved stealth and parkour, deeper naval mechanics, and new narrative content.

Set during the Golden Age of Piracy, Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced invites players to sail the Caribbean as Edward Kenway, a rebellious pirate captain drawn into the centuries-old conflict between Assassins and Templars. As Edward pursues glory and fortune, he crosses paths with legendary figures such as Blackbeard, Anne Bonny, and Calico Jack, while the fate of everything the pirates have built hangs in balance.

During the Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced Showcase, Ubisoft also confirmed that GRAMMY‑nominated artist Woodkid is returning to the Assassin’s Creed franchise, collaborating on a reimagined track to be revealed later this year.
