The Outer Worlds is being delisted on May 27 for PC platforms, new upgrade options announced

Obsidian Entertainment has announcd that The Outer Worlds is being delisted on PC platforms including Steam, GOG, Epic, and Windows on May 27.

After May 27, only The Outer Worlds: Spacer’s Choice Edition will be available on those storefronts. Those who own the original will be able to download it. The Outer Worlds: Spacer’s Choice Edition includes the base game and both DLC with other enhancements detailed here. This delisting does not affect the PS4, Xbox One, and Switch versions of The Outer Worlds. While it was previously paid DLC to upgrade, those who own The Outer Worlds (at least the base game) by May 27 on PS4 and Xbox One will be able to upgrade to The Outer Worlds: Spacer’s Choice Edition for free.

After May 27, you will need to own the base game and both DLC to get the upgrade for free. The base game and DLC will see price changes to $24.99 and $14.99 respectively for Xbox One and PlayStation 4. Obsidian has also released a patch for The Outer Worlds: Spacer’s Choice Edition with many fixes detailed here.

The Outer Worlds: Spacer’s Choice Edition is now available on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series. The Outer Worlds is available on PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch.

Today we have news to share about an update coming to The Outer Worlds as well as changes being made to the store pages. Starting today we will be pushing a couple of updates to The Outer Worlds through the Spacer’s Choice Edition. Today’s update is to test our release pipeline and fix a few issues that are in the game. The second patch will be larger bringing performance fixes, lighting changes, a host of other quest and gameplay fixes, and bringing in a brand-new feature to the original game: grenades!

Along with the second patch, we have big store changes planned. Starting May 27th, the base game edition of The Outer Worlds will be delisted and the Spacer’s Choice Edition will be the single version of the game going forward. For those who already have the original version of the game in your libraries, it won’t be going anywhere. After May 27th, however, the only version of The Outer Worlds that will be available on most store pages will be the Spacer’s Choice Edition. The only platforms not affected by this are Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch.

But wait, there’s more! If you have at least the base edition of The Outer Worlds in your library before May 27th, you will be receiving the Spacer’s Choice Edition free. That’s right, free! This is for all platforms that the Spacer’s Choice Edition is on (Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, Steam, Epic Games Store, GOG). After May 27th, The Outer Worlds: Spacer’s Choice Edition will be available for $39.99.

A few other store changes are coming to those who have Xbox Ones and PlayStation 4s. After May 27th to upgrade to the Spacer’s Choice Edition from the base game on Xbox One and PlayStation 4, you will need to own the base game and both DLCs for The Outer Worlds. That said, we are removing the paid upgrade path and as long as you have everything, the Spacer’s Choice Edition will be yours. The base game and DLCs are also getting pricing adjustments to $24.99 and $14.99 respectively on Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
