1988 MSX version of Deep Dungeon gets a port on Nintendo Switch via EGG Console
D4 Enterprise is gradually releasing a new EGG Console port of Deep Dungeon for Nintendo Switch based on its 1988 MSX release. It is set to be available on Nintendo eShops worldwide, including in the US storefront at $6.49.
The same port is also already available for modern Windows PCs for free via the subscription-based Project EGG platform. However, this MSX release was not actually the first version of this game. Deep Dungeon initially appeared on the Family Computer (NES) Disc System in 1986, and it was published under the Disk Original Group collective led by Square. This RPG would also spawn a series that went until the 4th entry for FC(NES) in 1990.
You can find the official trailer, descriptions, and screenshots for the Nintendo Switch port of Deep Dungeon right below. Just like most prior EGG Console releases, this port is only available in its original Japanese version.
A masterpiece of the MSX 3D RPG genre. To rescue Princess Etna, a nameless adventurer braves the depths of an underground labyrinth!
Peaceful Dole had somehow become linked to a world of darkness, turning its basement into a den for monsters. The King summoned Hero Lue and ordered him to exterminate them. Lue descended into depths with two followers and the ancestral armor, shield, and sword of the Hero.
This RPG was released by Humming Bird Soft in 1988 as a timeless classic. As a brave hero, you must venture into the dark dungeon to rescue the kidnapped Princess Etna from her cruel fate.
Get funds from the King, buy gear in the Town of Doll, and step into the labyrinth. Various enemies roam the maze; encountering one will trigger a battle scene. Since combat is command-based, think carefully before each move.
The 3D dungeon exploration provides an immersive atmosphere, offering a thrilling adventure. The labyrinth is complex; if you are not careful, you might find yourself lost. To ensure you find the way back, it is wise to draw your own map while exploring.
Can you rescue Princess Etna from the depths? And what entity awaits at the bottom...?
