Trails from Zero and Trails to Azure are now available on PS5 and Switch 2, Switch 1 and PC versions patched
The Legend of Heroes: Trails from Zero and The Legend of Heroes: Trails to Azure are now available for PS5 and Nintendo Switch 2.
Alongside these new ports, done by PH3, the Switch 1 and PC versions have been updated to add in the new Texture Style options, Color Space options, and more. If you haven't kept up with these releases, read my interview with Durante here and my impressions covering both PS5 and Switch 2 here. You can find the launch trailer and patch notes with more from Durante below:
Hi everyone,
it's been a while!
Today we are releasing a patch for Trails to Azure which brings feature parity with the new releases on PS5 and Switch 2. Obviously, the PC version was already quite feature-rich, but there are two new settings worth mentioning.
Texture Style
The first one is called "Texture Style", and implements something that was requested -- not quite frequently, but a few times. In short, this setting allows switching between the modernised textures used in the PC version so far ("Modern"), and the original textures the initial release of the game shipped with ("Classic"). The latter can also be set to point sampling for a very old-school look.
Here's a comparison:
Color Space
The second new setting allows you to select between two color spaces for the game: sRGB and bt.709. Different versions of the game on different prior platforms were presented in either of these, so it's hard to say which one is more "correct", but the former is brighter and with slightly less contrast compared to the latter. As such, we decided to offer both options. Choose whichever one you prefer (sRGB is the first).

Other Changes
Fix various text and localization issues.
Be more resilient and/or informative in a few specific crash scenarios on some types of hardware.
Fix a possible texture reloading bug when switching between languages.
Avoid polling disconnected controller slots every frame. This might very slightly improve performance in some cases.
Fix framerate drops with high polling rate (especially > 1000 Hz) mice.
Cheers,
Peter "Durante" Thoman, PH3
