Star Trek Online Rediscovered update, featuring three versions of Spock, goes live on September 22

Developer Cryptic Studios has unveiled the next major update for its MMORPG Star Trek: Online. Titled Season 37 "Rediscovered," the update will launch on September 22, 2026 on PC, and sometime in November 2026 on consoles. The update was teased with a new trailer released on a promotional broadcast for Star Trek Day on September 9, 2026.

The event features a new story mission, one which will feature three different, temporally displaced versions of longtime Star Trek character Spock. Each version of Spock will be played by a different actor.

The younger Lieutenant Spock will be modeled after and voiced by actor Ethan Peck, who plays the character in the Star Trek: Strange New World s series. The second version, Commander Spock will use archival audio recorded by the late Leonard Nimoy for his lines. Nimoy, who died in 2015, was the original Spock actor in Star Trek, and also recorded lines used in Star Trek Online when it launched in 2010. The third version of Spock, ranked Captain and from the time period of Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country, will be voiced by actor Piotr Michael. Michael played Ambassador Spock in the adventure game Star Trek: Resurgence.

The mission they're involved in is part of Star Trek Online's "The Ultimate Klingon" story arc, and will be added to the game as part of Cryptic's ongoing project to remake earlier story missions that were removed from the game due to their aged production and lower quality, improving their storytelling and adding voice acting and production quality that matches current STO main story missions. The first mission to get this treatment debuted in July 2026 as part of the Season 36, "Undiscovered" update.

Alongside the reveal, Cryptic also teased the future addition of a playable bridge interior area based on the U.S.S. Enterprise-A, as seen in the Star Trek motion pictures. This is the version of the ship captained by Spock after he took over command of the Enterprise from Kirk in that time period. The set will be present in the new story mission, but will be added for players to use on their starships in the future.

Cryptic also took the opportunity to outline more updates coming to Star Trek Online via an expanded 2026-2027 content roadmap. The roadmap teases future events and playable ship additions, including a Vidiian starship from Star Trek Voyager, Legendary upgrades for the Veteran Heavy Destroyers awarded to players with lifetime subscriptions (or who stayed subscribed for at least 1,000 days when the game had a subscription option), new starship bundles, and the game's 17th anniversary in February 2027.

Alongside Season 37, the game will receive  a new playable ship patterned after the version of the Enterprise seen in Star Trek: Strange New Worlds. This ship features screen-accurate texture work and visual effects to reflect the changes to the design that were added between the ship's appearances in Star Trek Discovery and Strange New Worlds.

The ship can be obtained from the 60th Anniversary Starship Icons Prize Pack, a new type of prize pack being introduced to Star Trek Online. While the game currently uses loot box-style prize packs for some of its starships, the Icons Prize Pack will feature different mechanisms that give "excellent odds" to obtain the grand prize, or one of the sixty possible starship prizes in the pack selection. The exact mechanism for this was not detailed.

Star Trek Online is available on PC, Xbox One, and PS4. The Season 37 update will launch on PC on September 22, 2026, and in November 2026 on consoles.
