Final Fantasy XIV to hit 1080p on PC, locked to 720p on PS3

Speaking to RPG Site Final Fantasy XIV producer Hiromichi Tanaka has confirmed that the PC version of the game will be able to hit 1080p but the PS3 version will remain locked at 720p to ensure solid performance.

Having seen the PC version of the game bumped up to a full 1080p resolution during an E3 demo, RPG Site asked Tanaka in their E3 interview if the PS3 version would also run at 1080p. His response?

"The PS3 version will be running in 720p in order to ensure performance remains high quality, but the PC version can go up to 1080p if your machine is powerful enough as you pointed out. We also support multiple displays, so players can use two or three displays to show the game."

The ability of the game to run on multiple PC displays was also shown off during our E3 demo. Check out the full interview here and our hands-on impressions with Final Fantasy XIV here!
