Vampyr to receive Story Mode and Hard Mode update later this summer, Ansel Support

Dontnod Entertainment has announced that an upcoming update to Vampyr will introduce two new game modes for players to select - Story Mode and Hard Mode - and will be available later this summer.

Update: The scheduled date for Vampyr's difficulty patch is now set for September 26. In addition to the difficulty modes outlined below, the update will also contain numerous optimization updates for the PC version of the game, and include Ansel support.

New Features:

  • Introduced New Difficulty Modes (Story Mode and Hard Mode)
  • Introduced Nvidia Ansel
Fixes:
  • An issue where the key to Morgue was missing has been fixed (Mission 21)
  • Fixed an issue where there was a wall missing collisions in Aloysius’ mansion
  • Fixed an issue that would occur with two-handed weapon skills
  • Fixed an issue with Simplified Chinese achievements appearing in English
  • Various other fixes

The Story Mode option allows players to experience Dontnod's style of storytelling while lightening the burden of the game's combat encounters. On the flipside, Hard Mode ramps up the challenge of battles and lessens EXP earned from them.

Vampyr, DONTNOD Entertainment’s narrative-driven action-RPG set in 1918 London, announces a content update coming later this summer. This will include two new game game modes which add further replayability for existing players and more options for those who haven’t yet sunk their teeth into this dark adventure.

As well as bringing a host of optimization tweaks, the upcoming update will introduce a ‘Story’ mode that de-emphasizes combat and a cranked-up, more challenging Hard mode. The Story mode places a greater focus on narrative, allowing players to experience Dr. Reid’s journey with less challenging combat. On the other end of the scale, Hard mode makes combat much more difficult. Players will receive less experience from killing enemies too, forcing them to rely even more on embracing citizens to grow in power.

Vamypr released on June 5 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. You can check out our review here.
