Continuing off from last month, Bandai Namco has today held another live stream in Japan where they delivered more information on the upcoming Super Robot Wars games including Super Robot Wars T, the newest title in the long-running mecha SRPG series which is coming to consoles. This time they published the second major promotional trailer, which shows more characters and mechs that will appear in the game, while also confirming that this game will have a new theme song from JAM Project titled Tread on the Tiger's Tail.
The biggest information in this new trailer is the reveal of the game's original characters and mechs. Just like the recent SRW games, you will be able to choose between a male or female protagonist. The male protagonist is Saizo Tokito (voiced by Takeshi Kusao), a salaryman who works in the Special 3rd Division of VTX Union, while the female protagonist is Sagiri Sakurai (voiced by Umeka Shoji), the chief of the same division.
The protagonist that you pick will be the center of the storyline, pilot the new original mech Tiranade - a prototype unit developed by VTX Union - and be accompanied by Ramy Amasaki (voiced by Ai Kakuma), a new staff who gets appointed as the co-pilot. The other protagonist that you don't pick will still appear in the story, piloting the returning original mech Gespenst at a later point in the story (although they can be obtained much earlier if you have the pre-order bonus DLC).
This trailer also explains some of the gameplay systems that will be available in this game:
- TAC Management: You can obtain Tac Points by doing things like destroying enemy units, and you can use them to invest in unlocking features, slots, and buffs.
- Skill Learning: Tac Points can also be used to make pilots learn new skills. These points are shared and can be used by all pilots. Unlike SRW X, this game does not have a Skill Route tree so pilots can learn most of the skills available in the list. A pilot can learn up to 30 skills.
- Sub Orders: Just like in previous SRW games, this lets you assign side orders where they can collect money, experience, Tac points, or kill count. However, what has been changed from previous games is that you can now assign Sub Orders to pilots who have sortied in the previous mission as well.
- Supporter Command: A new command list that has non-pilot characters who can activate supports, the effects of which range from buffing nearby allies to earning more rewards.
Super Robot Wars T is set for release on PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch in Japan and Asia on March 20. An English localized version of this game will also be available in the Southeast Asian countries of Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, and the Philippines.
